Water-borne coatings are used as alternatives to conventional solvent-borne coatings and can help in lowering the VOC content across applications. These coatings are ideal for use as primers due to their high resistance to heat and abrasion, and ability to provide excellent adhesion to surfaces. In comparison to solvent-borne coatings, the water-borne coatings are less costly, and require minimal coating to cover the same surface area. This issue highlights some of the key innovations pertaining to water-borne coatings that can be used in various industries.

Key words: Water-borne coatings, low volatile organic compounds, water-based primers, water-based paints, primers
