Country Industry Forecast: The US Environmental Industry

Periodic changes in regulations drove the growth of the environmental industry in the nineties. Industry growth stagnated between 1995 and 2000. International Trade Administration (ITA) has identified the environmental industry as one with higher growth potential in terms of trade, and is promoting the export through various trade promotion programs. Stringent environmental regulations on air, water, and waste continue to drive the growth of the industry. The key environmental issues that are likely to have an impact on the industry are global climate and clear skies initiatives proposed by the Bush administration. These policies are expected to have a significant impact on the industry during the forecast period.
