This research was carried out on the South African mining and energy sectors water and wastewater treatment market to try and accurately identify factors currently affecting this market. Four mining segments were analysed and these include the coal, gold, platinum and copper mining segments. The energy sector in predominately Eskom, South Africa's main energy generator. The volumes of water used by these industries where also determined. Market sizes for both the mining and energy sectors were calculated for 2008 and forecasts determined for the period 2009 to 2015. In addition, market dynamics such as challenges, drivers and restraints were also identified.
