On account of Internet and Internet-based applications, and with the Internet often considered the new WAN, the traditional WAN design was transformed,The demand for the technology was fairly low due to the weak business environment in the region, which affected enterprises’ spending on IT. In addition, the technology also faced growing competition from newer networking technologies such as Software Defined Networking (SDN), which diverted attention away from WOC, with many enterprises adopting a wait-and-see policy towards the long term viability and value proposition offered by both technologies.
