Description

South Africa has a high level renewable energy (RE) potential available. As stipulated in the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) 2010–2030, 3,725 MW must be generated from RE sources in South Africa. The Renewable Energy Independent Power Purchase Procurement Programme (REIPPP) was introduced to contribute towards the target of 3,725 MW. After delays of about 3 months, projects from the first bidding window of the REIPPP are currently entering into the construction phase. This research service provides a strategic assessment of the RE industry in South Africa with specific focus on the projects part of the REIPPP and follows the principles of Frost & Sullivan's market engineering research methodology.
