Digital pathology, as a carrier of efficient patient care in the form of long-distance telepathology and telemedecine, can support evolving healthcare needs requiring highly differentiated but integrated products and services. Top causes of inhibited growth is that the costs against the return on investments (ROI) weighs more on the side of costs, while end users’ attitude are no less restrictive. This study predicts that digital pathology will improve in future when new medical applications such as telemedicine as well as new opportunities in the diagnostic services, healthcare IT, and IVD sectors become available.
