Description

In Q1 2015, the region picked up growth, owing to favorable conditions like low-oil prices, improving Eurozone economy, and global economic conditions. However, it gradually started subsiding from Q2 2015, as ongoing crisis in Ukraine, contraction in Russia, weak performance of the external sector coupled with soft growth rates in Hungary and Poland acted as growth restraints. On the contrary, the Czech Republic maintained a steady economic growth in the region and is likely to continue with the trend in Q4 2015 and Q1 2016. A major turbulence occurred in the financial market in August 2015 due to the Chinese currency devaluation and the United States. Federal Reserve lift-off which resulted in major market distortions in majority of emerging economies.
