Internet of Medical Things (IoMT)

Prevalent trends and market forces are resulting in Healthcare adopting several technologies to become more efficient and cost-effective, while providing proactive care for better patient outcomes. One of the technologies impacting healthcare the most, is the internet of things (IoT). In the context of healthcare, Frost & Sullivan terms it as the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT).

The advantages of IoMT are numerous, but the two most important for healthcare are: a) tackling current care delivery challenges, and, b) helping care delivery transition towards an ideal state. While IoMT allows for care delivery to become coordinated instead of disjointed, enabling it to be continuous and location agnostic instead of discrete and location-dependent. In essence, IoMT allows for care to be delivered anywhere and at anytime. Also, care delivery of the future needs to have multi-directional information flow, instead of the current uni-directional approaches, it must be personalized to each patient, and must be proactive than reactive. IoMT has the potential, when applied in the appropriate manner, to help care delivery achieve this idea future state.

Frost & Sullivan segments the IoMT landscape by applications, in five distinct areas - On Body, In Home, Community, In Clinic and In Hospital. Our present and upcoming reports provide a deep dive in to all of these segments. The below list includes our current coverage on the topic. Please feel free to reach out to us to discuss more
