Over the last two decades, the African continent has received serious attention as the new investment frontier for international investors. The power industry, in particular, has witnessed a lot of investments owing to the need to increase capacity to avoid a power crisis. The Asian financial institutions are among a flurry of financial international organisations (and Middle Eastern governments) increasingly interested in developing the region’s electricity sector. The lack of detailed information on the Asian spending on energy infrastructure projects in sub-Saharan Africa has encouraged Frost & Sullivan to commission a study on this highly publicised topic.
