The U.S. Transportation & warehousing sector generated $972.7 billion in revenues in 2003. The sector is estimated to generate over $1 trillion in 2004. The continuing growth of the transportation sector and the changing competitive environment within this area is creating the need for greater operational efficiency on part of companies involved in the movement of people and products. This study focuses on the U.S. transportation sector and analyzes various trends impacting the industry. Specifically, the study concentrates on information technology (IT) and telecommunications implementation and spending trends within various segments in the transportation sector.
