Description

RFID is attracting attention in a wide number of markets through its major advantages over incumbent track and trace technologies. The market is set to grow rapidly, as not only large companies in a range of vertical markets but also their suppliers, adopt the technology to drive out costs in their supply chains. Given this potential market, the aim of this research is to understand what if any opportunities there are for mobile operators in the transportation of RFID data from remote locations to the company network. It argues that whilst opportunities are currently limited, as fixed mobile substitution continues apace, there may be a lucrative market for mobile operators here in the longer term.
