Description

Preventative healthcare, or preventive healthcare, accounts for measures that are adopted for disease prevention rather than disease treatment. Millions of people die preventable deaths every year and this can be due to environmental factors, lifestyle choices, and genetic susceptibility. Leading causes for the majority of preventable deaths include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, chronic respiratory disease, and a number of infectious diseases. With a constant rise in the number of people getting affected by these chronic diseases, the preventive healthcare industry has gained a lot of momentum across the globe. Preventive healthcare can be of three types, namely, primary prevention, secondary prevention, and tertiary prevention. Primary prevention is sub-divided into vaccination and health counselling and includes all those steps that are taken to generate awareness about the disease and its symptoms before it strikes. Secondary prevention includes screening tests and monitoring that accounts for tests undertaken in laboratory and health-care settings to ascertain if a person is susceptible to any particular disease or is depicting any symptoms for a potential disease. Finally, tertiary prevention comprises disease management activities and the steps that are taken to rehabilitate those who have undergone interventional surgical procedures and are advised to adopt a healthier lifestyle. The technical insights report also talks about the market impact of key innovations across the preventive healthcare space, the drivers and challenges that affect the preventive medicine industry as a whole and the geographical funding scenario of public sector in preventive healthcare. the report also includes insights to the adoption scenario across nations and the growth opportunities that exist within the space of preventive healthcare.
