This study takes a close look at the global market for smartphones and associated operating systems to understand the growth drivers for each from global and regional perspectives. Vendors of smartphones are checked for selling power in their own devices as measured by the shipments made, as well as in OS sold—both for those device vendors that have licensing agreement with OS vendors in an open environment and those that sell proprietary software as an integral part of their device in closed environments. From testing drivers and restraints of growth for strength to informing the readers on growth trends witnessed in different regions, this study is a frontispiece study on smartphones and related OS market.
