This study is based on a survey of 151 laboratory professionals working in a variety of laboratory types. They reveal their laboratories' current (2011) budgets and anticipated budget trends (for 2012) in seven product categories, and the top brands in each of these categories. The product categories and the brand with the highest unaided brand recognition in each category are: instruments (Thermo Fisher Scientific), equipment (Thermo Fisher Scientific), chemicals (Sigma-Aldrich), life science reagents and kits (Life Technologies/Invitrogen), glassware (Corning/Pyrex), plasticware (Thermo Fisher Scientific/Nalgene Nunc), general laboratory supplies (Thermo Fisher Scientific).
