Renewable energy sources are environmentally friendly and globally promoted. Due to their intermittent nature, however, renewable energy sources cannot be utilised as and when needed. Hence, an energy storage system becomes crucial to fully utilise renewable power. An energy storage facility acts as a buffer during peak demand; further, it improves grid stability through regulations and renewable integration. The long-term goal of effective, smart grid deployment is possible only through efficient utilisation of energy storage, which is analysed and explained in this deliverable.
