The Asia-Pacific (APAC) network security market recorded a healthy YoY growth in Q1 2011, as the improving global economy gave enterprises greater confidence to return to spending on enhancing their security. With Asia-Pacidic enterprises ‘wanting more for less’, vendors are likely to face rising pricing pressures as well as increasing commoditization in the segment. The improving economic conditions and availability of funds meant that the SMB segment was witnessing a gradual increase in spending. However, with managed security services becoming more prevalent and popular in the Asia-Pacific region, the long-term view toward security procurement in the SMB segment is likely to be dominated by the services model.
