Description

Cloud centers (like all data centers) are subject to infrastructure failures. In 2017, most major cloud service providers suffered hours-long outages in some of their services and regions—including AWS, Azure, IBM, Google, Microsoft, and Apple. Enterprises that “click to buy” on-demand cloud services without closely examining the terms and conditions may be left unprepared and poorly compensated for an outage.

In this insight, we take a look at market trends and user perceptions surrounding cloud SLAs. We assess the SLAs associated with public cloud compute services of five leading providers: Amazon EC2, Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines, Google Compute Engine, IBM Cloud Virtual Servers, and CenturyLink Virtual Servers. Finally, we offer recommendations for service providers and enterprises.
