Colorectal cancer is a disease of serious magnitude which has escaped national attention and public consciousness. Colorectal cancer leads to a serious societal and individual health burden. The overwhelming majority of patients are above the age of 65 years. With the anticipated demographic changes due to the aging of the baby boomers, the incidence of colorectal cancer will increase in the future.
