Sensors are increasingly penetarting the smart grid market. Though currently the conversion of normal to smart grid is at a low ebb, the advantages of smartening the grid should induce the conversion process. A number of sensors are used in the smartening of the electric power grid. Smart metering was the initiative where the smartening of the grid commenced. Research and development has played a role in the increasing use of sensors in the smart grid at various points in transmission and distribution. The key focus is on efficiency, power monitoring & balancing, the two-way power flow.
