Description
WLANs are an alternative to cabling a local area network (LAN). Most WLANs consist of client cards that are installed into workstations or portable computers and then those clients are connected to an external radio frequency (RF) transceiver called an access point. WLANs can also consist of peer-to-peer networks. This report covers wireless LAN equipment that are based on Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) or Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum technologies (FHSS). Discussion is included for future products based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). Forecasts for Unit Shipments, and Revenues generated from network interface cards, access points, and brideges are included.
