Twenty three large utilities in the U.S. have so far either installed AMR in mass deployments or are in the process of such a deployment. By examining the actual cost data reported by these 23 utilities, we can actually estimate the savings in meter reading, customer assistance, and billing that these 23 utilities enjoyed as a result of the AMR installation. This is an improvement over looking at anecdotal reports of AMR installations or discussing what benefits a utility "should" see. This is what actually happened.
