The day of reckoning is fast approaching. On May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will go into effect. The European Union (EU) regulation, known as (EU) 2016/679, provides data protection and privacy for all individuals in the EU. GDPR is a law covering all EU member countries, which includes enforcement with fines and/or sanctions. In addition, GDPR expands the scope of EU law beyond its member countries. Any non-EU based organization handling the personal data of EU residents, wherever that organization is based, is also subject to this law. Thus, GDPR is essentially the first global data protection law.

This report examines what cyber security vendors are doing to help their customers meet GDPR requirements, specifically the security technologies needed for GDPR; how security vendors are preparing their customers; and what programs they have set in place.
