The latest edition of the Medical Diagnostics and Imaging TOE profiles innovations related to radiology. The innovations profiled in this space relate to new product launches, innovative product features, and emerging applications of radiology. Beyond traditional diagnosis, radiology also finds applications in 3-D printing, pre-operation planning, and image-guided surgery.

In this issue of Medical and Diagnostic Imaging, four medical imaging innovations are profiled, along with IP analyses, and a snapshot of the patent landscape. For each of the technologies – high-frequency ultrasound imaging, breast-specific magnetic resonance imaging, image-guided procedure, and elastography – patent filing trends and a list of key patents in the space are provided. Further, to capture innovation activity in the respective areas, innovations are profiled in each technology area.

Medical and Diagnostic Imaging TechVision Opportunity Engine (TOE)'s mission is to analyze and report new and emerging technologies; advances in R&D, product development and regulatory matters specifically related to the areas of CT, MRI, NM, PET, Ultrasound and X-ray. In addition, relevant developments in fusion technologies, functional imaging technology, interventional cardiology and image guided surgery and healthcare IT related areas such as PACS, medical information storage, and disaster recovery/business continuance will also be covered.

Medical devices and imaging technology and innovation research covers cutting-edge global developments in medical devices and imaging sectors such as biosensors, biomaterials, biomechanics, microtechnologies, nanotechnologies, assistive technologies and imaging technologies and platforms.

Keywords: Digital radiography, computed tomography, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, stereotactic radiosurgery, medical imaging
