Description
This edition of the Industrial Bioprocessing TOE features information on the use of thermo-chemical waste treatment technologies like hydrothermal liquefaction and torrefaction for the conversion of biomass and polymer waste into sustainable bio-oil to be used as transportation fuel and briquettes used as a replacement of coal for clean power generation. The TOE covers innovations based on the use of cost-effective hydrogenation process for the conversion of captured carbon dioxide into specialty chemicals used in high-end applications. The TOE focusses its attention on the use of smart fermentation processes for increasing the yield of chemicals and fuels produced. The TOE highlights innovations based on the use of pyrolysis process for the conversion of discarded end-of-life tires into carbon black that can be used again for the manufacture of new tires and the generation of clean hydrogen from waste through pyrolysis. Additionally, the TOE also covers the use of sieve-based biogas desulfurization system that enables cost-effective gas cleaning to produce highly pure biomethane. The TOE also provides latest innovations based on use of activated carbon filters to reduce nitrogen dioxide levels in vehicles.
The Industrial Bioprocessing TOE provides intelligence on technologies, processes and strategic insights of industries involving bioprocessing, including innovations in the development and production of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, alternative fuels, chemical feedstocks, food and beverages, and consumer products.
Keywords: Thermo-chemical waste treatment, waste valorization, hydrothermal liquefaction, torrefaction, pyrolysis, activated carbon filters, smart fermentation, hydrogenation, carbon capture and utilization, biomethane, biofuels, biochemicals.
