Second quarter of 2010 witnessed the first decline in U.S. video market subscriptions and that dynamic continues into the third quarter. While some of this is due to a decline in cable subscriptions, it is also due to a slowing of IPTV and satellite subscriptions. To remain relevant and increase market share, service providers should focus on customized service offerings that emphasize video on demand and other time shifting capabilities parallel those of OTT offerings.
