The European BIPV market has seen exceptional growth in recent past. What started as a luxurious niche segment of the PV market, has today established itself as an active and more feasible option for buildings. Yet, demand is highly linked to legislative support and the industry is led by government and EU set targets for the adoption of renewable energy. These targets are driven by incentive based legislation. This has made the residential sector the largest consumer segment for BIPV. The competitive structure varies at each stage of the value chain. While it is more concentrated in the initial stages of silicon and cell production, there are an increasing number of players involved in module or inverter production and distribution.
