OTT Services in Africa Threaten to Derail Broadband Investments by Taxing Local ISPs

Local ISPs in Africa can’t keep the pipes open without OTT content giants contributing pro-rata to the finances needed for the network upgrades that are required to deliver their content at the quality they expect. ISPs expect the free ride to come to an end for such OTT giants, especially in markets like Africa where broadband infrastructure is not mature or pervasive, and enormous build-outs are still required to connect millions of households that want a high-quality VOD experience.
