A few telehealth conferences have been held in Malaysia since 1997, but ‘The First Telemedicine Conference 2015’ was a notable event where multiple stakeholders, vendors, academia and healthcare providers gathered to discuss the initial steps for building an ecosystem for telemedicine. The conference held in August 2015 at Sunway Medical Centre was organized by the Monash University Malaysia in collaboration with the Sunway Medical Centre, the Malaysian Ministry of Health, and the Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science & Technology (CREST). The conference answered questions on the current programs by MOH for telemedicine, the progress of the Telemedicine Blueprint and some of the opportunities and challenges stakeholders face.
