Dynamic environments like those of hospitals in the Unites States are plagued by inefficiencies resulting from misplaced/ lost assets or staff who are not found when they are needed. Technology advancements have made available conducive solutions in the form of location technologies, better known as Real Time Location Systems. Given the associated high costs of deployment and a cost conservative environment, one of the most promising solutions has been found to be Wi-Fi based RTLS. An analysis of the potential costs and potential benefits reveals the feasibility for hospitals in the U.S to invest in Wi-Fi RTLS for their tracking and security needs.
