Description

This research study examines companies that are using the advantages of the internet era to develop new ways of providing banking and financial services. Specifically, it is about the peer-to-peer (P2P) lending industry in 6 of the key member states of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). P2P is a form of loan provision platform centred on an online marketplace. It is a remarkable example of how modern technology is being implemented into banking and financial services. P2P lending platforms are particularly designed to help able lenders connect with credible borrowers. A P2Peer lending platform enables the lending of money to unrelated credible lenders, without requiring them to going through a traditional financial intermediary like banks and other established financial institutions. There are detailed reports on each of the 6 countries, including important milestones that help understand the progress made by that nation in terms of its P2P lending industry, year on year; an overview which includes the brief explanation on why small- and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in that particular country are facing problems in securing loans from the traditional banking institutions; and a discussion on how the PTP lending industry is trying to bridge the gap between SMEs and loans.

Since there are now several key players in each country, there is a necessity of regulating bodies that can monitor the industry. In this research service Frost & Sullivan has examined the role of the regulators in each of the 6 countries that have been studied and discussed the steps taken by the same to standardise the industry and aid growth.

This research service also provides a glimpse of the P2P lending startups in each of the 6 nations discussed and identifies the active players in each country. It also research includes an in-depth analysis of the role played by the major players in this industry and discusses how each company is dealing with existing competition by differentiating their product offerings. The company profiles include an overview of the company and the information necessary for investors and borrowers. The purpose of this research service is to provide an overview of all major players with the necessary details that investors and borrowers to need to consider while taking any business decisions.

This research also focuses on how the P2P lending industry is disrupting traditional banking and provides predictions for each market. It breaks down the level of disruption for each market and identifies the best players in each country.
