Maritime operations have historically been one of the most important types of operation in the Asia Pacific region and this is unlikely to change in the next decade. It is reasonable to assume a majority of military planning, training, and operations undertaken by the military forces in the region would involve a sizeable amount of maritime element. It is, therefore, increasingly crucial for nation states to maintain an extensive maritime capability, which opens wide opportunities in the maritime security markets, both for existing participants as well as for new entrants.

Both seaport security and maritime security are expected to grow rapidly till 2015, but spending patterns are likely to vary from country to country.
