The Advanced Malware Detection (AMD) market in ANZ grew 18.4% YoY in 2018. Cloud deployments saw greater acceptance among customers not only because of their cost effectiveness but also because end users are becoming more aware of the capabilities and advantages that cloud-based AMD have over traditional on-premise deployments.

As-a-service-type cloud AMD solutions are becoming increasingly popular, even as cloud adoption as a whole grows in the region. However, full-scale take up is hindered by concerns with cloud security and data ownership. Larger organizations eager to make use of the cloud without compromising on key concerns elect to use hybrid deployments instead. The overall market for AMD solutions is expected to grow with the ever-increasing number of cyberattacks and the significant government initiatives by both countries in the region to develop local markets and capabilities. In terms of threat levels and readiness, Australia is the 7th most-committed cybersecurity country while New Zealand faces the highest level of threat from foreign state-sponsored actors.

The BFSI, service providers, and government remained the largest vertical markets for AMD solutions. However, these verticals are also the most likely to resist full cloud deployments due to privacy needs and recent security breaches in cloud-secured organizations. SMBs from all verticals are likely to be the most enthusiastic adopters of cloud deployments.

In addition to market growth analysis, the study highlights the key driving forces of the advanced malware detection market in Australia-New Zealand. Key drivers include the increasing sophistication of advanced malware attacks, which drives the need to identify unknown threats without relying on traditional malware detection tools alone; the increasing need to proactively manage business risks, which drives investment in advanced malware detection technology to prevent large and costly data breaches; the integration of advanced malware detection solutions to a broader security portfolio or to common security control points, which prompts investment in such solutions due to ease of deployment.

Market trends are analyzed for the study period 2017 to 2023, with 2018 as the base year. The vertical segmentation in this study includes sectors, such as the government, banking, financial services and Insurance (BFSI), service providers, manufacturing, education, and other sectors, such as pharmaceuticals, retail, logistics, oil and gas, energy, mining, agriculture, IT/ITES, eGaming, eCommerce, and BPOs.

Competitive analysis covers FireEye, Cisco, and TrendMicro. Regional scope of this study includes Australia and New Zealand.
