Organic solar cells (OSCs) are emerging as one of the more versatile photovoltaic technologies inthe third-generation solar cell technology domain, owing to their unique characteristics of flexibility, ultralightweight form factors, low-temperature processing, and compatibility with high-throughput printing techniques. Advancements in donor–accepto...

The accelerating transition to net-zero emissions and demand for high-efficiency renewable energy are driving the need for photovoltaic technologies that surpass the performance limits of conventional crystalline silicon solar cells. As single-junction crystalline silicon solar cells approach their practical efficiency limits, perovskite-silicon ta...

Solar energy constituted 65% of the total 295 GW installed renewable capacity in 2022. About 70% of the deployed solar panels were monofacial panels that generate electricity from only the top side of the panel. Despite their popularity, these monofacial panels have encountered challenges related to space efficiency, energy yield, and dependence on...

Net zero goals requires decarbonization in every aspect of human life, and renewable energy production is essential. Flexible solar cells are a compelling proposition because of their wide variety of existing and novel application areas. In contrast to conventional, fixed-format solar panels often crafted from crystalline silicon, flexible solar ce...

As the solar energy industry progresses on its path to becoming elemental to global energy supply, newer generation solar cells must overcome the limitations of silicon solar cells used today. These issues include material wastage during manufacturing, inability to provide flexible cell formats, and limitations to theoretical efficiency at a maximu...

Flexible solar cells are rapidly reshaping the photovoltaic (PV) landscape, introducing a new class of lightweight, bendable, and substrate-agnostic energy‐harvesting technologies capable of powering applications that rigid crystalline silicon panels cannot reach. Enabled by breakthroughs in perovskite absorber chemistry, organic semiconductor engi...

Single-cell analysis can diagnose a condition in heterogenous cell population samples by studying genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and other cellular interactions in cells. It helps to understand a tumor microenvironment better and develop drugs based on newly uncovered knowledge of various types of tumors. The rich data provide...

Third-generation photovoltaics represent a fundamental shift in how solar energy is harvested, integrated, and scaled—moving beyond conventional silicon toward tunable, lightweight, and application-specific photovoltaic materials. By advancing perovskite, organic, tandem, and quantum-dot architectures, the industry is unlocking new capabilities in ...
