Description

Migrating applications and data from the premises to the cloud is much harder than it seems. Three-quarters of businesses surveyed by Frost & Sullivan say migration represents a top hindrance to cloud implementation. The challenges are both technical and non-technical, and include the physical challenge of moving vast amounts of data to the cloud, incompatibility of non-cloud native apps with cloud environments, and lack of on-staff knowledge to manage the migration.

Technology providers have recently introduced a range of appliances, capabilities, and services to mitigate those challenges, making application and data migration easier, faster, and less risky. However, businesses often suffer from insufficient on-staff knowledge and resources to plan and manage the migration and from inadequate processes and governance to ensure business continuity .In fact, without those two elements, an enterprise migration process is at risk for security, performance and cost issues. In other words, the likelihood of an unsuccessful migration can be considerably high.

In this report, Frost & Sullivan analyzes the greatest challenges enterprises face with their cloud migration strategies today. We examine how key market participants are stepping up to assist them, and provide recommendations of best services and software for each enterprise goal.
