Laboratory information management systems (LIMS) have been used in life sciences since laboratories began digitizing sample tracking and data management in the 1970s. Modern LIMS solutions enhance efficiency by automating workflows, improving data accuracy, and enabling seamless integration and offer strong compliance, secure centralized data management, cloud scalability, and real-time analytics for faster, data-driven decision-making. Stricter regulatory requirements are prompting life sciences organizations to strengthen electronic record management, audit trails, data integrity, and compliance across R&D, QA/QC, and manufacturing. At the same time, the complexity and volume of data from genomics and other advanced applications is increasing the need for interoperable platforms that connect instruments, ELNs, CDS, and enterprise systems; eliminate data silos; and enable seamless collaboration across laboratory functions. As laboratories transition from stand-alone systems to cloud-native and digital lab ecosystems, LIMS is evolving beyond core sample and workflow management to incorporate automation, AI, and advanced analytics that enhance decision-making, automate routine processes, and improve operational efficiency. Cloud- and SaaS-based and hybrid deployment models are gaining traction because of their scalability, flexibility, faster implementation, and lower IT burden compared with traditional on-premises systems. implementation, validation, and ongoing maintenance services continue to account for a significant percentage of industry revenue. Frost & Sullivan independently benchmarked the top 16 providers supporting life sciences workflows.

Frost & Sullivan analyzes numerous companies in an industry. Those selected for further analysis based on their leadership or other distinctions are benchmarked across 10 Growth and Innovation criteria to reveal their position on the Frost Radar™. The publication presents competitive profiles of each company on the Frost Radar™ considering their strengths and the opportunities that best fit those strengths.
