The Growth Opportunities in the Global Nuclear Power Industry study examines global commercial nuclear power development from 2025 to 2035, covering reactors above 10 MWe and the life cycle services supporting the installed fleet. Global installed capacity is projected to grow 23.8%, reaching approximately 477 GW by 2035, with China contributing 65% of net additions and becoming the world’s largest nuclear market. Despite renewed momentum, financing remains the industry’s binding constraint: long construction periods, cost-overrun exposure, and extended payback horizons continue to limit private investment in large greenfield projects. Consequently, near-term capital and commercial opportunities are shifting toward life extension, operations and maintenance, uprates, component replacement, and modernization of aging reactors. SMRs offer a potentially more financeable pathway through lower unit costs, modular construction, and phased deployment, although first-of-a-kind projects will continue to require public support and risk-sharing mechanisms. Meanwhile, AI and hyperscale data centers are emerging as a long-term source of firm, carbon-free electricity demand, initially benefiting existing reactors and later supporting SMR deployment. Based on the ongoing situation, we´ve identified opportunities for original equipment manufacturers and services providers to join in this nuclear power relaunch impacting worldwide. Overall, the most immediate value lies in monetizing and extending the existing fleet while positioning selectively for post-2030 advanced-reactor growth.
