The operator services (OS) market is an industry having multiple facets. The most important aspect of wireline telecommunications is that it is losing revenues to wireless communication. The more people use wireless phones, the less they use wireline phones. This creates fewer opportunities for wireline providers to provision operator services. In this document, “operator services” consist of directory assistance, collect calling, and alternative operator services.

Collect calling is the only facet of OS that will increase every year throughout the forecast period. This can be attributed to heavy marketing and promotion efforts by carriers to successfully instill collect calling as an everyday event.
