Auxiliary power units (APUs) are units that produces electricity to power functions other than main propulsion, such as on commercial trucks, aircraft, marine and space applications. This research will focus on APUs used for heavy-duty trucks (semi-trucks). These units can help reduce energy costs and pollution that would otherwise be incurred by the trucks running their primary engines for these functions. APUs for remote power usage, aircraft, marine, space and other applications are not covered in this research service. Additionally, analysis by APU type, geographic region trends, current issues facing the market, revenue and distribution forecasts, market and technology trends, and competitive analysis are also discussed.
