Description

This Frost & Sullivan research service focuses on US Department of Defense (DoD) satellite growth budget spending and contracts. The study includes research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E); procurement; operations and maintenance (O&M); and other services.

Satellite spending for the fiscal year 2025 DoD budget request is the foundation of this research. This budget request covers the Army, Navy/Marine Corps, Air Force/Space Force, joint service spending plans, and major program spending requests. The base year for financial spending is 2023, and the market forecast is from 2024 to 2029.

The United States maintains extensive satellite capabilities, both government owned and commercial leasing, to help monitor geopolitical trends. The need for ground moving target indicators (GMTIs) will result in more space asset tasking and control by tactical users. The US Space Force is seeking to partner with commercial firms to share satellite launch facilities.

The study does not include satellite spending that may be part of previous multi-year or agency-specific commercial satellite services. Classified programs are not included. This study is not an inventory of US DoD satellite systems, launch schedules, commercial projects, or technical specifications. Program segmentation, inclusion, large multiyear programs, and funding forecasts are at the analyst’s discretion.
