The importance of public R&D for energy sector is further highlighted by the need for accelerated commercialization of emerging technologies that have been identified as vital for deep decarbonization of the global energy sector by several developed and developing nations. In this study, we have highlighted the current public R&D budget by various nations across the globe along with the technologies in focus. The study includes profiles of top public energy R&D institutes along with their key technology focus areas, impact of COVID-19 and others.
