In a global environment increasingly defined by decarbonization, urbanization, and digital transformation, companies operating in the homes and buildings sector must fundamentally redefine their strategic purpose. Growing awareness among consumers, employees, suppliers, and policymakers is elevating climate-change mitigation and adaptation as central drivers of long-term value creation and regulatory compliance. Leading organizations are responding by embedding environmental considerations into strategy, operations, and transparent reporting, generating benefits that include sustainable profitability, stronger employee engagement, more resilient supply chains, and positive community outcomes. Organizations that fail to address these challenges risk value erosion, particularly as they navigate the tension between short-term financial targets and long-term sustainability commitments, as well as difficulties in measuring and communicating progress.
Frost & Sullivan applies its proprietary Climate-Smart Performance Index (CSPI) to systematically evaluate and rank the top 50 companies in the sector. The index is built on more than 150 company-level environmental metrics drawn from annual reports, sustainability reports, corporate social responsibility disclosures, company websites, and press releases. From this dataset, 25 comparable metrics spanning 17 thematic areas were selected for rigorous assessment and scoring. The resulting ranking provides investors and stakeholders with clear insights into relative climate performance and resilience.
Additionally, this report examines the climate-smart solutions market encompassing hardware, software, and services designed to reduce the environmental footprint of buildings and infrastructure while accelerating decarbonization. Using 2025 as the base year, the analysis delivers market size estimates and forecasts through 2031, highlighting the significant growth opportunity at the intersection of climate mitigation, climate adaptation, and industry leadership.
