The North American wavelength services market is in the mature stage of the product life cycle. In recent years, the request for wavelength services has snowballed, driven by exponential demand for high bandwidth from wholesale and retail customers looking to accelerate their digital transformation initiatives, the adoption of AI-enabled applications, hyperscalers and neocloud providers, the use of bandwidth-intensive collaboration tools, and demand for data center-to-data center and cloud connectivity. Service providers interviewed for this analysis noted that 100G remains the most commonly demanded configuration, but they see growing demand for 400G. Network service providers offer additional services to differentiate their offerings, including view, quote, and order via the customer portal; waves on demand; and fiber expansion to increase the number of fiber-lit buildings and enable them to turn up services quickly on pre-provisioned routes.

This Frost Radar™ analysis offers a perspective on market trends and assesses seven leading providers of wavelength services in North America. Frost & Sullivan analyzed and benchmarked primarily based on their wavelength portfolios, including their presence in the retail and wholesale segments and their performance across 10 Growth and Innovation criteria to reveal their position on the Frost Radar™. This publication presents competitive profiles of each company, considering their strengths and the opportunities that best fit those strengths.
