The Hyperloop system is analysed by benchmarking it against existing modes of transportation, in terms of speed and time to travel between locations. The study offers an analysis of the current competitive landscape. The research looks at the different companies present in the market and discusses a whole range of factors including the funding that they have received, their differentiating capabilities and the projects that they have in their pipeline. The key passenger routes which are being planned by different companies across the globe are documented with exhaustive details on the distance of each route and the current status of each project. Furthermore, the various futuristic application avenues for Hyperloops and their potential business models and revenue streams for the future are also discussed. The study further looks at the current Hyperloop regulatory landscape across the globe and identifies countries which have embarked on friendly regulations for commercial Hyperloop operations.

The increase in the number of vehicles on the roads and the associated traffic congestion not only makes passenger travel difficult and time consuming, but also poses challenges for express delivery companies. Increasing congestion makes it difficult for logistics, postal, courier and e-commerce companies to transport their goods from ports and airports to the different business hubs on time. This becomes a serious challenge when it involves transporting perishable and time-critical commodities. In the case of extreme weather such as storm or snow, transportation of essential commodities gets delayed, causing social and economic losses. Hyperloop can help in combatting such challenges prevalent in the logistics supply chain.
