This research report examines the growth opportunities emerging from artificial intelligence-powered unified communications and collaboration (UCC), drawing on Frost & Sullivan’s 2026 global survey of 1,198 IT and business decision-makers across North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. It evaluates organizational challenges, investment priorities, purchasing criteria, AI capability preferences, expected benefits, platform strategies, adoption plans, and pricing models through 2029, with analysis segmented globally, by region, and by organization size.

The findings show that AI interest is broad, but operational readiness remains the principal constraint on adoption. Skills shortages, cybersecurity, privacy and compliance, multi-vendor integration, and difficulty linking AI strategy to measurable business value rank among the most significant IT and telecom challenges. At the same time, communications budgets remain resilient: 56% of respondents expect spending to increase in 2027, indicating continued investment in modernization, integration, governance, and automation.

Buyers view AI features as valuable, but not as substitutes for foundational enterprise requirements. Reliability, security, regulatory compliance, manageability, ease of use, deployment flexibility, and interoperability generally outrank innovation alone. Customer experience (CX) is the leading communications investment objective, while workflow automation, collaboration, resilience, knowledge management, employee experience, and revenue growth are also widely prioritized. Customer experience and conversational intelligence represent the strongest entry point for AI adoption, complemented by agentic front-end applications and infrastructure and operations analytics.

The market is also moving toward platform consolidation. Globally, a large majority of respondents prefer a single integrated platform using common AI technologies across calling, meetings, messaging, and contact center environments. Agentic AI adoption is expected to advance decisively from experimentation to production by 2029. Adoption pace varies by region, organization size, and budget outlook, creating distinct opportunities for pilot conversion, scaled deployment, and platform expansion.

Regional and organizational differences reinforce the need for differentiated go-to-market strategies due to geographic differences in urgency, outcome orientation, risk tolerance, and purchase preferences for AI-powered communications investments. Expected benefits focus on improving work quality, productivity, and customer experience rather than replacing labor. Commercially, pricing models continue to evolve with technology maturity and customer requirements, with several approaches continuing to hold appeal. Providers should therefore hone value propositions to combine measurable results, cost predictability, secure governance, interoperability, and segment-specific deployment services. Success will depend on converting broad AI relevance into sequenced, trusted, and value-proven adoption.
