Description

Visible Light Communication (VLC) technology employs light emitting diode (LED) lights for communication. LEDs can flicker at high speed which corresponds to a digital ‘0’ and ‘1’. This phenomenon is leveraged in VLC to provide a communication medium using readily available LED light fixtures. VLC is providing attractive opportunities in various industries, particularly where RF wave based communications are not feasible. Apart from this, VLC offers various advantages including ultra-high speed of data transmission and has high bandwidth capabilities. This emerging technology is expected to enable new applications which conventional wireless communication platforms are not able to.
