Description

AI is not a new technology. In fact, AI and machine learning (ML) concepts have been around for more than a century. The comparatively recent (early 2020s) release of and commercial general availability of generative AI (GenAI) solutions have enabled, facilitated, and accelerated AI adoption, both in individual and enterprise contexts. Rapid AI adoption is a dynamic megatrend that delivers new levels of insight, productivity, analysis, and convenience to the modern enterprise; however, it also carries with it a new risk, and it is up to enterprise CISOs to respond.

AI applications introduce new channels through which threat actors can exploit enterprise vulnerabilities. Enterprise AI use requires new methods of security, and AI application security vendors are stepping into the void, giving customers visibility into, governance over, and security for their AI use and development. As the nascent market for AI application security matures, AI application security technology will improve and continue to narrow the gap between AI technology and AI security coverage.

What will success look like: When enterprise CISOs are enabling AI’s full potential in their organizations without compromise to enterprise security? When AI application security technology finally matches the ubiquity of AI use, the AI-targeting threat actor business model becomes far less lucrative, which is an AI future on which every enterprise can capitalize.
