Software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solutions continue to gain traction among enterprises trying to achieve network agility, cost containment, and consistent and secure app performance at the edge and branch locations. SD-WAN enables organizations to flexibly route traffic over a choice of network technologies based on their application needs. SD-WAN functionality is now being coupled with security solutions on virtual or physical devices located at the corporate edge or in the cloud. As organizations seek to optimize their networks across more locations, they are increasingly opting for a managed service rather than deploying and managing the appliances and software on their own. In a fully managed service, the provider manages all aspects of the solution, although the customer still retains visibility into network performance characteristics. In a partially or co-managed service, the enterprise IT team retains control of some aspects, such as policy management and troubleshooting. Network and managed service providers are offering integrated managed SD-WAN solutions comprising overlay (equipment and management platforms) and underlay (network) services as a way to increase revenue and customer retention.

In this tracker, Frost & Sullivan provides market sizing, revenue, and port forecasts for the global managed SD-WAN market, which is expected to have a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 24.2% from 2022 to 2027. The study also looks at revenue and port figures by region, geographically categorizing the market into Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Europe, and North America.
