This Frost Radar™ benchmarks companies and their solutions that enable the exchange and use of data between healthcare applications. Interoperability improves continuity of care, increases communication and connectivity between different stakeholders (e.g., payors, providers, patients, public health bodies), and reduces inefficiencies.

Organizations can achieve data interoperability by either adopting an enterprise-wide single platform that supports all data-related activities, from ingestion to analytics, or by taking the more popular method of using middleware or application programming interfaces (APIs) to provide direct access to programs through calls that utilize other programs as subroutines.

Frost & Sullivan segments the healthcare data interoperability market into five categories: enterprise data exchange, data integration, data cleansing, master patient index (MPI), and data analytics. However, for this Frost Radar, focus remains on the three core and fastest-growing segments: enterprise data exchange, an enterprise-wide platform that supports use of the same data standards across the organization; data integration, or the use of system translators (e.g., APIs) to support the flow and integration of data between different systems; and MPI, an outcome of the interoperability initiatives that creates a single view of the patient across entity, system, nation, or region

Frost & Sullivan analyzes numerous companies in an industry. Those selected for further analysis based on their leadership or other distinctions are benchmarked across 10 Growth and Innovation criteria to reveal their position on the Frost Radar™. The publication presents competitive profiles of each company on the Frost Radar™ considering their strengths and the opportunities that best fit those strengths.
