Description

The sudden shift to remote work for millions of people has created an exponential demand for video meetings. In H1 2020, cloud video meeting providers reported massive growth in usage. Growth in video devices was primarily driven by webcams and all-in-one appliances for remote workers while meeting rooms remained in a holding pattern during the COVID-19 months due to site inaccessibility and shuttered offices. After a flat 2019, unit growth rebounded strongly in 2020. Unit shipments grew in H1 2020 by 16.6 percent over the same period prior year. Revenue in H1 2020 declined by 3.2 percent driven by rapid decline in prices due to a shift in the product mix. As remote work enablement becomes a key IT imperative, the growth trajectory for video conferencing endpoints looks solid. Revenue growth will be lower than unit growth due to a strong emergence of lower priced all-in-one personal collaboration and meeting room appliances. Devices for home offices, phone booth/meeting pods, and huddle rooms will grow at the fastest pace.
