The ASEAN automotive market is one of the key global markets where there are constant dynamic developments. These markets are characterized by low motorization and high congestion especially in the metros. National and global OEMs in the region make constant efforts to persuade buyers through aggressive marketing tactics. New and facelifted model launches, incentives, and schemes are some of the tactics adopted. Value for money offered is one of the key purchase criteria, which is critical for stakeholders to understand and act upon.

Frost & Sullivan develops Value for Money database for the key markets of Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand on a yearly basis through regular inputs from local dealers. The ASEAN Value for Money Database provides a detailed overview of the value for money offered to customers by the top 20 vehicle models (based on Sales Volume in 2015) in each of the key ASEAN markets of Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand in 2015. The Parts price, labor costs data for this exercise were gathered based on interviews with local dealers, parts price costing sheet and visiting local websites. The fuel cost used in this study is the weighted average pricing for 2015.

The database offers detailed information on the price of each of the model variant, along with the highest sales volumes, cost of parts, cost of labor, fuel cost, and total cost of ownership for five years. It includes the following sections—Executive Summary, Top 20 Models-Malaysia, Workings-Malaysia, Top 20 Models-Indonesia, Workings-Indonesia, Top 20 Models-Thailand, and Workings-Thailand.
